This technology is the development of the VTEC, the development of improved performance and fuel efficiency on a Honda engine.
First introduced in the K-series engine in 2001, Intelligent-Variable Valve Timing Electronic Control still uses two camshaft profiles that have different duration and valve lift.

Differences of VTEC and i-VTEC, where the i-VTEC there are features, which the suction valve camshaft to have flexibility in determining the degree of valve opening between 25-50 °, the effect is the engine capable of producing maximum power at any engine speed, and certainly will result in efficiency fuel.
